Accutron Wrist Watches
The history of Accutron is somewhat sketchy but some accounts hold that the popular wrist watches made their debut in 1960. In October of that year, a press release announced the Bulova Watch Company's plans to employ electronic tuning forks in powering its sonic watch. This technology was unique to Bulova, as watches of the time traditionally used mainsprings.
In December 1960, another press release was circulated, providing information regarding the training of watchmakers to adjust and repair Accutron watches. These new watches were actually easier to repair and adjust. This innovative technology took off and Accutron wrist watches gained prestige. In fact, Accutron wrist watches were given as gifts to presidents and leaders from around the world. President Johnson even declared the Accutron watch an official White House gift.

1960 was an excellent year for Accutron, with NASA recognizing its worth in timekeeping.
